Constructing, Connecting (2022)

Constructing, Connecting is an experiment in association, abstraction, and the aesthetic reconfiguration of objects and humans. Emerging from an interest in classic still life paintings and photographs, the series aims to uncover novelty and unexpected interest in an arbitrary selection of composed objects, illustrating and subsequently questioning hierarchies and associations that might be held within these objects. By stripping them of context and placing them alongside simple portraits, I hope to probe a subjective and deeply intuitive sense of curiosity and surprise living somewhere beneath the surface of these otherwise banal compositions.
